FUEL FILTRATION

Diesel

Diesel is sold in South Africa with a fuel rating 500 /50 /10 PPM. This PPM rating relates only to the Sulphur levels in the diesel.

No, this is not the dirt content of the fuel.

For the new Euro 3 and 4 specified engines it must be ISO Code 12/10/8

What we have measured at forecourts is between ISO Code 21 /18 /15 and 19 /15/ 12

First part of the injector change is termed “stiction”. This is when the dirt particles entering the injector cause the moving parts to slow down – this in turn changes the timing of the injector and spray pattern, causing resultant drop in performance, decrease in fuel efficiency and an increase the exhaust gas temperature.
The next part of the wear is barrel wear and spray hole wear. This causes over fueling and engine failure.

It will not improve your fuel consumption but maintain it at the level that it is.
If UDF fuel filters are fitted from new, the fuel consumption will remain as new and maintain oil and motor condition for a much longer period.

No, most of the OEM’S do not have a problem with fitting extra filters on the fuel side.

Petrol

Yes you can as UDF fuel filters are designed to be used for both diesel and petrol engines.

Yes it will as the OEM petrol fuel filter is a 20 micron filter and filtering the petrol keeps the carbon levels down and keep the Lambert sensor clean which keeps injectors in spec and maintains fuel consumption.

UDF filters can be used with all types of fuel as all our components are compatible.

ENGINE OIL FILTRATION

It refers to the process of when a percentage of oil is filtered continually.

Oil is tapped from the main oil filter and restricted by a 1.5 mm orifice, allowing only 3% of oil flow to the bypass filter

Keeping the oil clean prolongs the life of the engine oil. Filtering the oil with a finer filter will also reduce the wear rate in the engine.

Engine OEM filters are normally 20 to 30 micron, and are fitted with a bypass valve which in turn will bypass when the oil is cold (not at operating temperature). When the filter is blocked in order that the oil is continually fed to all moving parts of the engine, finer filtration removes more dirt and keeps the oil within specification and prolongs the life of the oil

TRANSMISSION OIL FILTRATION

Filtration at 0.5 microns can increase the life of the oil by three to four times the expected service intervals
Reducing the dirt in the oil prolongs the component life as well
Reduces oil consumption

Yes it will because dirt particles cause wear and foaming in the oil

No – off take is carefully positioned in order to not affect pressures

The UDF system is a bypass filter so it won’t affect the operation of the equipment

HYDRAULIC OIL FILTRATION

Filtering the oil to an ISO Cleanliness level of 17/12/10 ensures that the oil does not have to be drained and replaced. Working with an oil analysis laboratory ensures that the oil remains within specification and should last for the life of the machine.

• The operating temperature will be reduced
• Reduces the possibility of foaming in the oil
• Protect the pumps and valves
• Prolongs the life of the hydraulic hose
• Reduces oil consumption
• Reduces service costs and down time
• Improves the efficiency of and productivity of the machine
• Prolongs the life of the oil

No – additives are sub micron in size and are unaffected by filtration

No – hydraulic oil does not break down with prolonged use and viscosity remains unaffected
